Flexible design with CFD simulation

If desired or required a new design will be tested at FlowGrill with the aid of advanced CFD software. This software enables the simulation of the behaviour of airflows. The integration of the CFD software in the 3D design package Pro Engineer gives the possibility to make a well-founded assertion on, for example, the pressure loss over the ventilation louvre.

And not only the airflow, but the behaviour of water droplets can be predicted as well. Often FlowGrill is asked if the ventilation louvres can also be given a water-repellent function. This is possible. Small adjustments in the design can have large implications on the functioning. From the burbles a prediction regarding the noise production can also be made. CFD simulations provide insight and flexibility.

A new type of louvre would often be tested in an expensive wind tunnel set-up, which meant that if the results were not satisfactory, a new test louvre with the necessary adjustments had to be produced. This method of development is time consuming and expensive. With good results from the CFD simulation a full-scale test can always be carried out afterwards. Especially the noise production will be measured during this test.
